GWF IN THE COMMUNITY

GWF encourages each of it's business groups to actively support the community through the sponsorship and support of community groups, welfare organisations, sporting development programs and elite athletes.

GWF - Community Support

Through our individual and community sponsorships, we support activities ranging from sport, community aid and welfare. Each of our Divisions participate in community projects and facilities such as the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, the New Children's Hospital at Westmead, The Spastic Centre and many other community organisations.

As part of our sponsorship of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, we funded programs to assist some of Australia's most promising athletes train at the Australian Institute of Sport and realise their dream of participating in the event a lifetime.

We also support the community through contribution of our products and services. An example is our substantial donation of Don Smallgoods products to Mission Australia to provide assistance to those in need and our product donations to the Children First Foundation.

George Weston Foods Limited (GWF) respects the environment and accepts its responsibility to conduct all activities with due concern for their environmental impact.

GWF is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our businesses while continuing to provide high quality products and services that meet the needs of our consumers. We will do this in a sustainable manner through
continuous improvement in the environmental performance of our activities.

NATIONAL PACKAGING COVENANT

GWF recognises the environmental imperitives underpinning the National Packaging Covenant and commits its support to the Covenant - the national framework for the management and minimisation of the environmental impacts of consumer packaging in Australia. GWF became a Covenant signatory in May 2001 with our Covenant membership covering all operations under the GWF Covenant umbrella. The company has contributed to the transitional funding arrangements scheme and will continue with this support.
